This week, we practiced getting dressed by singing a song to the tune of head and shoulders:
Winter Dressing Song:
Snow pants, boots,
Then coat and hat,
Coat and hat, coat and hat,
Snow pants, boots,
Then coat and hat,
Scarves and mittens last.
We have still been practicing how to create patterns. This week we provided students with many opportunities and various materials for them to show their understanding:
Here's what we've been up to in other areas of our room:
We learned another math game called: Bear Tracks. Students roll a dice and pick the same amount of bears to put on their track. The first friend to get to the other side wins! A great way to practice stable order counting, subitizing and more!
We have been playing Bingo to quickly recognize our sight words:
With the holidays coming up and lots of special events and birthdays in our classroom, our students have been really interested in party planning. This week, we provided students with flyers to make their own wish list. Lists can be also be done at home such as when grocery shopping, baking, birthday lists etc...
Our Tim Hortons is in business! Definitely one of more popular areas of the classroom. Students practice their oral language and are also exposed to different mathematical concepts such as money, different sizes, and quantity.
As students were creating their patterns, they were discussing the different colours they were using to create their worms. We decided to put out a learning invitation with only the primary colours. They were shocked to learn that primary colours create secondary colours and that there are different shades.
Reminder:
Tomorrow is a P.A. Day! A gentle reminder for Year 2 Students to return their report card envelopes and second sheet signed and that our library day is on Tuesday. Please send your child's library book/bag together.
